Jigging

Tips, advise and fishing techniques for sport fishing in Bijagos islands, Guinea Bissau Jigging
This kind of fishing can be called an overdrive, a bit exhausting but very fruitful, I would recommend it to a tough and athletic age range. I go to the same spots than those where I practise waddling and where you will find jacks mainly, although you could catch other species there. Waddling will rather target the African red snapper. This technique consists in letting the jig touch the seabed and to pull it back up quickly, very quickly, in a jerky manner for a few yards and then to let it go back down onto the seabed, the move is repeated instantly. Most of the time, the fish would bite during the way-down. This technique is tedious but good for big fishes and here as well the bite is very violent and powerful. If one could practise waddling four a few hours it is much more exhausting to practise jigging for only one hour. It will leave you worn out on the the boat's bench. You want to choose quite heavy jigs, over 150 g to compensate for the drift current and wind forced swerving.
