Hooks and fishing line bottom

Tips, advise and fishing techniques for sport fishing in Bijagos islands, Guinea Bissau Hooks and fishing line bottom
Here, at the edge of the world, it is very difficult if not impossible to get all the new hooks that your retail dealer recommends as miraculous. I have been fishing with ordinary and reversed hooks for years, I obtain those in abundance and at low cost from local suppliers specialized in equipment for professional anglers. They are strong iron hooks, almost indestructible, they cost 30 euro cents for the larger ones and 5 euro cents for the smaller ones, which would never open while fishing and would hardly rust, in other words they are the ideal hooks. For large fishes, I set them up with a double sleeve set steel cable from 80 lbs to 150 lbs but without a loop, see photo. Anything that would come out the setting, like a piece of rope or a too large loop, will imply troubles and an instant break at the bite. Contrarily to what I have always been advised to avoid, I always set up my cables with a simple but tight sleevage and I have never lost any fish that way. Believe me, I have caught more than one big fish in 13 years. I can provide these hooks for free for any fisherman who does not want to burden himself but remember to bring the steel cable with its uncased sleeves if possible. One of my great pleasures is to catch very big fishes up to 15 kgs, with the little hook (like the one on the top of the photo) and to fix it onto a 50cm nylon. I have noticed that the little trout hook always manages to get stuck in a corner of the large babies' mouths that hang around our waters and when the line's body is made out of 35cm nylon and that the cane is adapted, it looks like a Homeric battle to catch the beast. See photo of carp. In the waters where there are many small sharks and parrot fishes I use a little reversed hook and a thin 16 lbs steel cable, you can see it on the top left of the picture.
